Telephone Jack Wiring Color Code Diagram
Color code schemes are used to identify wires within a cable.

The solid orange wire is the ring and is connected to the yellow jack screw. There may be instances where you may need to connect to or transpose from the old quad cable.

In a typical home the telephone cables connecting your phones within you home contain four wires. The cat 3 cable can also be used for the rj 14 pinout with the same color code as the cat5 and cat6.
